Quick answer

What is spice ERP software?

Spice ERP software is business software built around how a spice plant works. Formezy records each crop lot with its supplier and test results such as moisture, foreign matter, aflatoxin or pesticide residues, the cleaning and grinding loss, masala recipes, sieve and magnet checks, and the batch and best-before code on every pack, so any pack traces back to its lots.

Lots mixed before anyone tested them

Each crop lot is numbered at receipt and held until its test results are entered, so untested or failed material never reaches the grinder.

Cleaning and grinding loss nobody measures

Input, cleaned output, stones and dust, and ground output are weighed per batch, so process loss is visible by spice and by lot.

Masala recipes kept in one person's head

Blend recipes are stored with versions and issued with each batch, and actual weights are booked against the lots used.

Segments

Built for every spice segment

3 segments, each with its own shop-floor process flow.

Whole spices

Cumin, coriander, fennel, black pepper, chillies, turmeric fingers and cardamom cleaned, sorted and graded for packing or export. Track crop lots, cleaning loss, grades and lab results.

See the 7-step flow

Ground spices

Chilli, turmeric, coriander and other spice powders. Track the cleaned lots issued to the grinder, grinding loss, sieve and magnet checks, powder test results and pack-wise batch codes.

See the 7-step flow

Blended masalas

Garam masala, chaat masala, sambar powder and other blends made from many spices. Control recipe versions, allergen and label data, blending batches and the lots that go into each one.

Questions

Spices ERP: common questions

Still have a question?

Talk to a food ERP specialist about your own plant and process route.

Which spice segments does Formezy support?

Formezy supports whole spices, ground spices and blended masalas, each with its own process flow. Plants that combine segments run them in one system.

Can Formezy store aflatoxin and pesticide residue results?

Yes. In-house and external lab results, with the lab's certificate, are stored against the crop lot. The limits are the ones you set for each spice or customer, and lots outside them stay on hold until someone with the right role releases or rejects them.

How does it calculate cleaning and grinding loss?

Input, cleaned output and the stones, dust and rejects removed are weighed per cleaning batch, and input and output are weighed per grinding batch. The loss is calculated per batch and can be compared by spice, lot and machine.

Can it manage masala recipes and versions?

Yes. Each blend recipe is stored with ingredient percentages, allergen information and label data. Changes create a new version that must be approved before it is used, and every batch records which version it was made to.

Does it record sieve and magnet checks?

Yes. Sieves and magnets can be set up as control points with a check frequency. Each check is recorded against the batch, and a failed check holds the batch until it is re-screened.

Can it print certificates of analysis for export orders?

Yes. Test results stored against the lot can be printed as a certificate of analysis and sent with the invoice and packing list for that lot.

Does it help with FSSAI records?

Formezy keeps the records a licensed spice plant typically maintains, such as supplier lots, test results, batch records, cleaning records and dispatch details, in one place so they are easy to find for an inspection. Compliance itself depends on your processes and products.
